Policy & Tactics
Rebranding? Don’t tear down the old house just yet
Planning a rebrand because your current listing took a beating?
You’re tired of fighting a damaged listing, and a fresh brand looks like a clean slate. A seller I talked to this week was contemplating this exact scenario. My advice:
Don’t shut the old brand down yet.
I told them to run the new brand in parallel, because the old one still sells every day and that cash and data fund the launch. Those sales keep cash and data flowing while the new brand finds its footing.
Second rule:
No friends-and-family reviews on the new brand.
Amazon tracks the connections between accounts, and one linked review can put the whole brand at risk.
Rebranding can be a great way to refresh a struggling business. Just be sure to step into it from as strong a position as possible.
Reviews & Ranking
It feels slower because it is
Three months of silence on your review removals feels like being ghosted. Here’s what I told a seller this week:
The delay isn’t a lack of effort.
Amazon has been disbanding support teams, pulling forms and APIs, and putting more human compliance oversight behind review decisions. What works now is slower: spaced escalations, every ASIN tracked in one sheet, and a removal only counts after it’s been checked three times.
If a provider bills you for activity instead of results, ask why.
Hint: my company, eCom Triage, only charges when we remove the reviews.
See how we can help.

One way to beat the bad guys: harder-to-launch products
Cheaters gonna cheat.
Nearly a million Amazon sellers are now using generative AI tools, including AI-driven trend scrapers, sourcing bots, and rapid-prototyping workflows, allowing the cheaters to spot a winning private-label product and spin up a clone in weeks.
Why? Because They Can
In a given room of people there aren’t that many truly dishonest cheaters/black hats, but in a room of a million there’s more than a handful – and with AI tools that multiply their evil, their impact is felt.
Another thing that helps the bad guys: Platforms like Amazon are shifting from classic keyword-stuffed SEO to AI-driven discovery (such as Rufus and machine-learning recommendations), making simple arbitrage or superficial me-too items easy for the algorithm to swap out or undercut.
Making It Harder
Like building a castle, a “hard-to-launch” product offers additional moats of protection, adding structural friction AI cannot code or prompt away.
A few of these moats include:
- Upstream Supply Chain & Custom Tooling
- Regulatory & Compliance Hurdles
- Data and Customer Intelligence
- Operational Resilience and Trust
On that last, when every listing looks polished, buyers and B2B integrators default to operational trust: who actually stands behind the product, owns the supply chain, and delivers consistent quality over years?
Hope that helps with your planning. When it comes to review removal, catalog defense, and consultation for your online business, I can help.
