Black Hat Watch

Amazon is not regularly reviewing posted content. It’s up to you to police your own reviews and report violations. You can use that to your advantage.

This Week’s Dad Joke

Oh no he didn’t. 😁

Minimal splits send inventory to fewer destinations, leaving Amazon to redistribute it internally after receiving. Optimized splits arrive more widely distributed, giving sellers more wiggle room.

It’s a simple tradeoff: manage a more complex inbound plan yourself, or pay Amazon placement fees to simplify it.

Fortunately, SplitSmart™ by Tactical offers another route. Send one consolidated shipment to Tactical, and they distribute it across five or more Amazon fulfillment centers before delivery. Inventory is delivered and received in 5–10 days, with zero placement fees and flat-rate pricing starting at $220 per pallet.

Policy & Tactics

Who Changed Your Listing?

Your Best Seller Rank slides, and you spend a week blaming ads when the culprit is a changed main image. Did you know Amazon can quietly revert an image? A title, category or browse node can also shift.

The Buy Box can disappear.

Sellers who record every listing change next to rank, sales and conversion can spot these shifts early. A Weekly Audit for Images, Titles, Categories and the Buy Box.

Rank slides often have a listing-side cause, and a change log next to your rating log finds it fast.

My advice: work out a system to track these and prevent slides before they happen.

Reviews & Ranking

Perception Is Everything

Most sellers treat a 4.2 and a 4.3 as basically the same rating. In search results they aren’t.

Slip below roughly 4.3 and a product can go from showing 4.5 stars to showing 4.0, and the clicks follow. Even though it’s technically only a 0.1 point drop, visually it looks like your star rating just took a major hit.

One brand I talked to this week is racing to cross that line before Black Friday. If you sell on Amazon, count the written 1 to 3-star reviews on your top ASINs now and flag the ones that break Amazon’s Terms of Service.

Removing a single negative review can be worth roughly ten new five-star reviews.

Q4 is not the time to find out where you stand.

My company can help.

Amazon Is Not Watching

Just as a reminder, Amazon is not regularly reviewing posted content. In their own Conditions of Use, under Reviews, Comments, Communications, and Other Content, Amazon specifically states that they do “not regularly review posted content.”

Crime Watch

Instead, in their Community Guidelines they say this:

“We encourage anyone who suspects that content manipulation is taking place or that our Guidelines are being violated in any way to notify us. We will investigate the concern thoroughly and take any appropriate actions.”

In other words, it’s up to us sellers to police our own reviews and report when we find one breaking the law.

The Price Of Freedom

There’s that old saying:

“Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom.”

The meaning applies here. You can be free of the negative reviews that shouldn’t be there, it just takes diligence and time. Finding violations, submitting reports, tracking progress and getting bad reviews removed is a manual process.

There’s also ways to get help.

It’s What We Do

Here at eCom Triage we take care of that process for you.

Well. That’s when I put my foot down.
